Clipper Retail celebrates success at The Shard

Jan 22, 2019

Clipper Retail held their “Way Up” Global Summit at the UK’s tallest skyscraper this January, 2019. Team members from Sekura Global, Clipper’s Retail Security Division, joined their UK colleagues for this truly global event – with attendees travelling from as far away as Australia and North America.

The Way Up took place on the 24th Floor of The Shard, with London’s skyline as a backdrop. Clipper Retail & Sekura Global celebrated the terrific success of their teams in 2018, with growth and sales way up on 2017, acknowledging the collective achievements of everyone involved.

Chris Napthine, Clipper Retail Director of Operations, said: “The Way Up Global Summit is an excellent opportunity for us to meet, network, collaborate and innovate.

“Customer Experience is the new buzz word in retail. Some retailers have a department set up specifically for ‘CX’. While pressure on high street stores grows, shops are being replaced by customer experience centres. We want to be right there in our approach to our clients, when it comes to customer experience.”

Clipper Retail’s customer-centric focus was highlighted as a key theme of the event, with both the Directors’ Choice and People’s Choice Awards presented to team members who deliver positive customer experiences every day.

Lucy Munn, Global Procurement Manager, won the Directors’ Choice Award. The Directors said this about Lucy: “Her quick reactions, attention to detail, and thorough knowledge of global procurement has allowed us to provide shorter lead times for our customers across North America.”

Cheryl LeBar, Customer Service & Supply Chain Manager for the USA and Canada, won the People’s Choice Award. One of her colleagues said this on her nomination form: “Cheryl always puts the customer first, insisting on not just meeting, but exceeding their expectations every time.”

After the awards ceremony all attendees were invited to participate in the SlideTag Challenge, for a taste of what it’s like for the customers at our trade shows competing to win big prizes. First prize on the day was won by Karen Hearn, Account Manager NAM, who applied/removed SlideTags the quickest over all.

Attendees had the chance to think about how they have progressed in the last twelve months – with new offices and distribution centres now open in Australia and Canada, and a new office in Germany as well.

After the Summit came to a close, all attendees were invited to “The View from The Shard” to see the 360° panoramic views of the city. All international team members joined the UK team at Clipper Retail’s Global HQ after the event, for two days of best practice sharing and product training.
